My wife and I moved here 10 years ago from CO to escape the change of politics and influx of folks from the East and West coasts. Watched ranches and small towns disappear to development of super expensive housing as well as the accompanying social ills of crime and increasing in ...Read More
come disparities. Unfortunately some of those same trends are appearing in Cody. The pandemic and anarchy in CA, OR and WA have sent their citizens running to Cody. After selling their houses for $1M+ they come here and drive up housing to the point where our oldest (and spouse) can’t afford a house. Then the newcomers paradoxically want to turn Cody and Park County into precisely what they had in CA, etc. . Cody still has a small town feel and people genuinely help one another out without getting into your business. No, there’s not a lot of fine dining and entertainment pretty basic but it works for those that can live with that. No a lot of crime but drugs (meth) seems to be an issue. The weather, we’ll, it gets cold in winter and the WIND REALLY BLOWS. I mean 50 mph is not al all unusual. There’s a saying in the construction industry here (which I’m in) that “the wind blows the women (and men) away as well as the Californians in 3 years”. It seems to be true enough. At 3 years you’ve either accepted the experience of a 70 mph gust blowing you, your dog and the neighbors camper over or you move to FL like my neighbors (from NJ) did after 3 years. Their house was bought by folks from Atlanta. Should be fun to watch…

Cody Wyoming native of 60 plus years and moving out of this nasty insanity. Beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife. The local mentality is to hunt it all into submission. Outsiders are not really accepted unless there is a need to use them for more tourism dollars. The town relie ...Read More
s mainly tourist dollars for everything. Doing everyday business in the summer is infuriating due to the extreme influx of tourists and zero traffic control. Shopping is very limited and you must drive to Billings Montana to get a good selection of clothing, furniture and cars. There are a lot of bars, hotels, rv parks, gas stations and bad places to eat. Nothing that caters to locals to come back to. It really has gotten to be a loud and noisy party town in the warm tourist months. I would not tell anyone under 30 to move there. Jobs are non existent pay is insulting. One party after another for the visiting gawkers. Great for a drunk overnighter.

xpensive pork barrel projects for a few select people. These RINO's complain daily about Liberals and their tax & spend ways, yet turn right around and do that very thing. There is no fair & balanced news or politics in Cody,or the rest of Park County. It's either my way or the highway.Too many rich transplants have infested Cody, and other towns in the area, thereby driving up housing prices and rents to ridiculous levels. There are very few good paying jobs anymore as most business's cater to these rich bigots who have taken over.Do yourself a favor and avoid this town, and others in the area, like the plague
