Injustice at Pathway 0.5 rating By Justiceseeker ( Sep 24, 2017) If you're ever in Valdosta Georgia and need counseling don't go to Pathway for Hope counseling. They are not there to help you only to get contracts from dfacs. Their privacy policy is none existent. They help dfacs build cases against their clients not help them. Boring town for singles and young couples. 1.5 rating By catch_kc ( Aug 07, 2012) I'm active duty military and stationed here in Valdosta, GA. I've lived all over the country, and the world for that matter, and can honestly say that Valdosta is by far the worst placed I've ever lived. There is not much here. Having two Walmarts is this town's claim to fame/ ...Read More bragging rights. Here are a few reasons I don't enjoy Valdosta.

Where do I start? Everyone here is slow and backwards. Stereotypical of a small town in the south. Based off of national income averages, 78% of Valdosta residents live below poverty. Car break-ins, home invasions, robbery and rape are riducously common here. Everyone is broke and jobs ARE NOT availible. There are more homeless people here (per capita) than anywhere else I've ever been. Being from Los Angeles, CA, thats saying A LOT! And almost every bum here is overweight.... how in the hell is that even possible? The nightlife hardly exist, music scene is dry, and the local mall is nothing to brag about. There is no culture here. Sweet tea and fried food is not culture. Also, racism is huge down here! I've heard the "N" word used more times in the last 2 years I've lived here than I ever heard in my entire life.

The average income does not meet the cost of living. My electricity bill is almost double what I paid in other cities with the same amount of usage and a smaller house. There is only ONE digital cable provider in town, and they suck. Half the time my cable didn't work, and because they have no competition, they practically dared me to do something about it when I complained. I ended up having to go with a nationwide satellite television company to negate the poor service and customer care. Water bills are freakishly high as well. Suprising, seeing as how we are surrounded by lakes, rivers, ocean and live on top of natual springs. My water bills were cheaper in Tucson, AZ..... weird. EVERYTHING (except Walmart) closes at 5pm and NOTHING is open on Sundays (except Walmart). Blow a tire late Friday night, you might as well forget about it until Monday morning.... thats when the tire shop will finally open just to put your tire on order, then you have to wait a couple more days until it comes in. Thats Valdosta's economic status in a nut shell.

The weather here is aweful. Hotter than you know what and always humid. It rains eveyday during summer and the lightning always causes power outages. Tornados and hurricans are a constant threat as well.

The bugs are the worst by far. About 488,937 mosquitos per person and they aren't affraid of bug spray. Black widows, brown recluse, scorpions, hornets, ants, and any other poisonous insect you can think of are everywhere you look around here. Aligators and multiple poisonous snakes are extremely common as well. This place has the most creepy crawlys and critters I've ever seen.

The roads here pretty much suck. Theres about 100 pot holes and sewer lids for every mile of road. People cant drive very well here either. Tons of old people/retirees. They just don't pay attention, nor do they MEET the speed limit. I'm no speedster, but going 25 in a 35 kind of kills me. I guess there is no sense of urgency here in this one horse town, and the driving here is proof of that.

I think that pretty much sums up my dislikes about this town. Although I generally can't stand Valdosta, there are a couple good things about living here. I'll be fair and in this review and go over a few positive qualities Valdosta has to offer.

History. This place has a lot of history and historical districts. I always thought that was kind of neat. Hunting and fishing is huge as well. Camping, boating, and national parks are close and convienent. Atlanta is about a 4 hour drive, and Jacksonville, FL is only about a 2 hour drive, and Orlando/Disney World is only 4-5 hours away. Plus, fairly close proximity to the ocean is always a plus. Lastely, If you're religous, then this place is Heaven. There is church of some sort (mostly Baptist), on almost every corner. Read Less
