Good for a newly married couple with no kids needing a starter home 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 13, 2024) Not the best community to live. Taxes are high, utilities are 2 times higher than when I lived in Clinton Twp and Farmington Hills. My car insurance is high due to location. I pay $402 a month for PLPD on one car and limited coverage on a newer vehicle (perfect driving record and ...Read More good credit score- Progressive says it is location- fix yourselves Roseville). You can't live here without security cameras. People walking around all hours of the night. My camera dings on average 15 times a night between 11pm & 4am. Cars stolen or tampered with 5 times in 6 months. Home values are reasonable for the area which is a bonus for those seeking temporary residence. Lots of rental homes with neighbors in and out. Not able to get acquainted with people as they frequently move after 6 month lease is up. I think it is fine for young married couples with no kids to get a start to grow their equity. Not a place to stay permanently. Read Less
Close to everything 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Feb 07, 2021) I've lived in Roseville for over 3 years now. For full disclosure, it is me and my wife who own a home and are both under 30. We don't go out to bars or anything like that. Our neighborhood (near 12 mile and Gratiot) is actually very quiet and peaceful. Have never had anything cr ...Read More azy go on in our area besides fireworks seem to be a huge form of entertainment for some.. It's against city code most nights of the year but it is probably the worst thing about the area. I just don't understand how people can spend money and light off fireworks most of the year.. But even then, after a certain point the nights are very quiet and peaceful as I said.

Close to anything you can think of. Pretty much any casual or fast food restaurant you can think of as well as most box retails chains you can think of (and some local places) are going to be within a 5-10 minute drive of you. The only fast food I can think of that isn't nearby is Steak n Shake and A&W. There's also a number of local places that are great such as Yolk & Toast, Seaburgers, Bad Brad's etc. The Walmart on 12/Gratiot should be avoided but luckily there's two nearby Meijer stores (Little Mack & off Utica in Fraser) that are decent. Plus you're 15 minutes from downtown Detroit and all the venues, casinos, events and restaurants that go with that. That's why I rated attractions so high. You're close enough to downtown as well as some other cities to where there is plenty to do without having to drive more than 20 minutes.

As mentioned, we're not "nightlife" people but from what I can tell, within actual Roseville there wouldn't be much for you. There's a couple bars but not sure how good they are. There are some rougher areas. Typically, south of the I-94 overpass there seems to be some semi-regular shady occurrences as reported by people on the neighborhood app but overall, Roseville is not bad. Most of the real bad crimes that do happen typically aren't random. No children so can't comment on the schools. The police are also pretty nice from the few interactions I've had. They even had no problem going to lock my wife's car door when she called them about leaving it unlocked in our driveway with her laptop in the car while we left town for the night.

Community as a whole is lacking but our neighbors have been nice and friendly. I think community as a whole is lacking everywhere these days so that's no surprise. You can probably knock at least 2-3 points off every category I rated if you're talking about Roseville proper, but given it's locale, I think it's only fair to include all the nearby places when you think of things such as attractions, dining, nightlife and shopping. You are close to everything.

If you don't mind some hustle and bustle during the day and are a single/young family and want to be close to everything you need, I really don't see a problem with it currently. Our house value has also been skyrocketing for whatever reason and people seem to be buying and selling pretty easily so the market seems good too. Read Less
A Typical Small MI City 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( Nov 30, 2019) I have lived here for two years plus. I am looking forward to moving out of Roseville, MI. There is no sense of community. When I compared my taxes ...Read More to others in my area there is a huge difference in the tax I pay and the tax paid by others in the community that I live in. I look forward to moving to some place where there are no discrepancies in the community where I live. When I moved here I thought this was going to be a great place to retire. Not so. The high tax and utilities are a deterrent for me being retired . There are many eateries, any type of food one can desire is available. That's about the best attraction in Roseville. There is no night life, and I'm good with that. Shopping is adequate depending on what you're looking for. It's a good place to settle for some but not for me. Read Less
Living in Roseville, Michigan! 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 26, 2012) When I used to live in Roseville Michigan, there were many things I loved and a few I did not. Every place has good and bad things about it, but this place is almost all good!

Every once in a while you would see a community yard sale but that was about it. Everybody in the community was pretty nice though. When it came to dining out, there were several options. There was almost any type of food you could think of. There were also many franchise restaurants, along with several mom and pop type of restaurants. The nightlife was pretty slim unless you wanted to enjoy SeaWorld's nightlife. There were maybe a handful of bars and most of them were in restaurants. The shopping was pretty amazing. I mean it was not LA shopping but it did have plenty to choose from. There was a mall that had almost everything in it right there in Roseville. Also there were many places to get everyday shopping items from.

Overall I found Roseville a nice place to live. I would not have thought about leaving if it was not for my husband's job making us move. Even if you are not looking to move here it is still a nice place to visit. I mean, who does not want to visit SeaWorld? So next time you are in the area or passing through, make sure you at least stop in for a bit and check out all there is to offer in Roseville, Michigan!
