Oxford is in a good strategic position roughly halfway between Atlanta and Birmingham. This fact could make it really great if the city planners would formulate and execute a plan to actually make it livable by modern standards. Infrastructure (i.e. better sidewalks and segregate ...Read More
d bike lanes, etc...) should be implemented, wasteful parking lots and dead businesses (i.e. Quintard Mall) should be raised and it's space better used for the public good such as medium density multi-use construction and green spaces. You literally cannot go anywhere or do anything in Oxford without a car and the ugliness of its streets and buildings are unfortunate. These factors, among many others, make it less than mediocre on a livability scale. Planners, have a vision and get Oxford out of the 60s. It could be beautiful as well as economically favorable.

You can also visit the Anniston Museum of Natural History to make your trip to Oxford both enjoyable and educational. The Berman Museum of World History is in the area as well, and displays beautiful exhibits that are symbols of some of the world's most significant events. When you want to do some shopping for rare antique items, Calhoun Pickers is the place to go. You'll find lots of home decor options and furniture items that will serve as great conversation pieces.
