I have lived in Raleigh, Memphis, Tennessee for 5 years now. Over those 5 years I have learned that I truly enjoy the neighborhood. The neighborhood of Raleigh is located in the North-central part of Memphis. This area is right along a river and is the highest point in Memphis. T ...Read More
he neighborhood is full of history, friendly faces, and many great places to eat. Raleigh has a lower cost of living than the rest of the state, and many police offers to combat any crime issues.
As a history buff, I really enjoy the neighborhood because there are so many historical landmarks near by. Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley, is located in Memphis. Graceland is a great local attraction to visit. I enjoy taking out of town guests there.
Another local historical attraction is the National Civil Rights Museum - Lorraine Motel. This is the motel where Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. There are many exhibits to see that date all the way back to the 17th century.
Besides the historical attractions, there are many grocery stores within the area of Raleigh. This can be a great help for someone that likes to bargain shop and watch the ads, which I do. It is nice having a great selection of grocery stores available, especially when I am in a different area of the town.
While there is a lot of shopping stores in Raleigh, many of them are specialty type boutiques. I do enjoy shopping at those stores, but when I am looking for everyday items or clothes, I would want more of a big name retailer to shop from.
The eating in Raleigh is great too. There are several local cafe and restaurants that have great Southern items available to choose from. I do enjoy going to a chain restaurant, but when guests come from out of town, I always take them to one of the local places.
Almost half of the population in the Raleigh area is married with kids. This community is great for families because there are great house to choose from, and many near by parks that are fun for children. The Memphis Zoo is also not far away which is another great attraction.
