What I love about the Southern Californian city is the ability to explore a number of museums, art exhibits, boutiques, restaurants, shops, and parks for a location that is a true melting pot of different cultures and ideas. On Olvera Street, I can pick up a handmade purse that was made in Mexico before enjoying authentic homemade taquitos from the vendors. When I want to take photographs of different people, I stop by Union Station where the architecture is breathtaking. At times, I'll catch glimpses of different celebrities who are in the area and will enjoy walking the Hollywood Walk of Fame or catching a live taping at Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Unlike most cities, Los Angeles is home to both the rich and the poor. It's easy to find numerous homeless people on the streets begging for money while others drive by in the latest Maserati. As a resident to the area, the lower-income areas of the city are not as enjoyable and can make it difficult to feel comfortable. The traffic is also a downside to living here, which can make it transportation a challenge. I often find that I work my schedule around traffic just to avoid the gridlock that occurs on most of the highways during the day. The cost to living in LA is also a downside where it's difficult to stretch your dollar. Read Less

I had one of the worst exp in my life here in LA, I got mugged in daylight at Culver city bus transit center with more than half a dozen people there.The worst is part is when I asked people to lend me their phone to make call to 911, all turned their deaf ears to me.

This cultured activity made me really appreciate the fashion sense in Los Angeles. Additionally, I was able to drive the freeway. It wasn't nearly as bad traffic wise as I had been told. In fact, I was able to get from place to place relatively quickly. If you're worried about going to Los Angeles because of traffic, you need not be.

I traveled to Los Angeles with some friends. We were able to watch the Lakers play the Denver Nuggets at the Staples Center. The Staples Center is a magnificent facility. Additionally, it was a lot of fun watching Kobe Bryant in person. He had a great battle with Carmelo Anthony and the Lakers won! It was one of the highlights of a great trip. Also, I was able to attend the American Idol final at the Nokia Arena. It was great to hear so many amazing voices in one night.

Los Angeles has something for everybody. Whether you want to relax at the beach, hang out at a nice restaurant, or go out with friends, Los Angeles offers a little bit of everything. I thoroughly enjoyed every second in Los Angeles. I can't wait to go back and catch some hockey or basketball. Also, the beaches are very relaxing and a good place to unwind. I highly recommend visiting Los Angeles as soon as possible. Read Less

I stayed at the Westin near the airport (5400 West Century Blvd) which was a great pick at less than $70 per night. The main atrium is open concept ...Read More and made for a great place to have a quick bite to eat and some drinks. The rooms were large enough and offered all the amenities you'd expect from a Westin.

The one thing I noticed about the city of Los Angeles, is that everything is so far away. Renting a car is absolutely a must if you plan on venturing out and seeing the city. We headed into Beverly Hills which took about 30 minutes with light traffic. I could see this drive lasting much longer in rush hour. Once we got there we headed to Robertson Blvd to check out the famous celeb hangout called The Ivy. I was expecting to see at least a minor celeb, but instead just some regular Joe's. Along that street there is also some good shopping with Kitson being just down the block.

For breakfast the next day we visited Griddle Cafe (7916 W Sunset Blvd) which was incredible. The pancakes could be the best I've ever had. Or maybe I was just excited because I finally spotted a celebrity - Lisa Marie Presley!!!

Overall, I did enjoy my visit to Los Angeles. The one downside was the air quality. I probably inhaled the equivalent of 10 packs of cigarettes, but oh well. The one recommendation is the car rental, its an absolute must if you plan on seeing the city of Los Angeles!!! Read Less

Parking is a difficult thing in almost every area and is rarely free. Los Angeles is very crowded, and so are the streets. Driving on the freeways is enough to make a person have a mental breakdown, especially in rush hour. Currently, Los Angeles is not a good place for anyone looking for work to relocate to. Unemployment is extremely high and jobs are few and unreliable. Housing prices are still outrageously high and businesses are closing more every day. Overall, the climate and scenery are great, but many situations are not. Read Less

If you want to join them, it is cheaper to live there than New York, but rental and home prices, along with the cost of living, are pricey. Save up before you move to the City of Angels.

Mountains, deserts and the Pacific Ocean surround Los Angeles. Low-rise buildings are commonplace, as are headquarters for major corporations. There is a lot of diversity in the city, and there are areas where many people from certain ethnic groups live and work, such as Koreatown, Little Tokyo and Little Ethiopia, making them a great place to try authentic cuisine.

Los Angeles was made with cars in mind, but there are plenty of public transportation options as well. The LA County Metropolitan Transportation Authority operates light rail, bus and subway lines throughout Los Angeles County, for commuters and tourists alike to take. Major expansions have been, and will be made, over time as more residents demand better transportation options. It costs around $100 for a month’s worth of TAP card rides, which is not too expensive. Getting around is easy in the city!

Cultural activities are abundant in Los Angeles. Sports fans love to watch the USC Trojans or the UCLA Bruins in college games, or the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Anaheim Ducks, the Los Angeles Clippers or the Los Angeles Lakers at the professional level. ABC, CBS, Fox, Telemundo, Univision, Disney and other studios have units in the city, and movie-goers can tour production lots. The Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Getty Museum offer up plenty of chances to take in a show or see art exhibitions.
