Grayling is a small town named after a fish which no longer thrives in the river; logging long ago wiped out the grayling. On weekends in season fly fishermen chase trout, and canoes float the river. Winter there are snowmobiles. Fall is hunting season. Real estate is modestly pr ...Read More
iced. Good jobs are few. Medical care is limited. But there are dollar stores, bars, chain fast food places, motels, and cabins for rent. Fine dining does not exist. There is a K-mart, and a couple small grocery stores. Downtown is small, and there isn't much to see or do there except get a burger. But you can buy a bottle of fine single malt scotch at the convenience store downtown. There is a nearby military training camp. And Traverse City is an easy drive, maybe an hour.
