Georgetown is the county set of Scott County and had a population of just over 33,000 as of the 2016 Census. That is a large number compared to its 2000 Census population of just over 18,000. Toyota USA operates a plant that produces their popular Camry in Georgetown and employs nearly 10,000 people. These well-paying manufacturing jobs are the life's blood this blue-collar community. The city also is the location of Georgetown College, a private liberal arts college.
Georgetown is great place for those who enjoy being in the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing are two of the most popular pastimes in and around the city. There are a number of rivers that are great for fly fishing and canoeing, along with many campgrounds in Scott County.
