We have been back from California to visit the Freeport area twice now in the last two years. Our first impression coming into Maine was ground breaking for us, at the border we were welcomed by the toll taker with such a sweet and welcoming disposition that we were almost a bit ...Read More
shocked since we were coming from the hustle bustle of New York and the go-go-go of New Jersey. Freeport's locals were very helpful and chatty when we told them we were new to the area and were thinking of possibly relocating to the East coast with Maine in mind.
They hand their personal suggestions and areas of interest, and also were quick to give us their personal information should we have any more questions about the area and sites to see! The shopping is wonderful in Freeport, not only is it home to the largest LL Bean (open 24 hours) but there is also some boutique shopping along the main drag with designer shops as well! One of my personal favorite shops to visit when we go is the Earrings and Company shop on Mechanic St. I always find the best gifts and earrings for myself there, so many great designs by local artists as well.
The restaurants we experienced were nothing short of amazing, my favorite being the Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro on Main st. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable, the lounge and bar area is very relaxing as well.
I can't wait to go back and visit soon!!!!
