Ever since the time when First Nations people were the only inhabitants, the town has always been welcoming to newcomers. Historically favoured by migrants and people looking for better opportunities, the open and accommodating nature of the community has not changed. With employment opportunities in the processing and distribution sectors growing rapidly, Cornwall continues to attract large numbers of new settlers. While the majority of Cornwall residents are English speaker, there are a sizeable number of French speakers as well. For this reason, the city has two French schools so you’ll have the choice of sending your kids to either Anglophone or Francophone schools.

The cost of living in Cornwall, including housing, is comparatively lower than the rest of the country and the city offers a range of beautiful neighbourhoods to suit every lifestyle and budget. Dover Heights is a pleasant neighbourhood for families, offering spacious residences with green spaces and large fenced yard. If you’re willing to spend a bit more for upscale waterfront living, head to Summerstown where new developments are coming up every year. With the town being so small, everything is within easy distance or you can take one the many bus services offered by Cornwall transit.

While any Cornwall resident will mention the number of parks and trails, Guindon Park in Cornwall’s north-western section is a hidden gem. This lovely area features walking and cross country ski trails, a bike path and wooded parkland, as well as numerous waterfront activities. For cycling enthusiasts should also be sure to check out the many other bike paths winding along the city, from along the waterfront to the parklands in Lamoureux Park.
