A review for transplants. 1 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 29, 2020) The positives are obvious.
Nice weather, beaches, low cost housing, ok food. Nice vacation spot if your into boating, fishing and bbq.

Negatives.

Moving here from a larger city? Morehead has some amenities. Jacksonville has more but is just over an hour away.

The amenities in
...Read More Beaufort are overpriced and shared with the outer banks so very limited. Small is an understatement. Try one overcrowded gas station.

Finding an affordable home here is easy. Finding a job outside of hospitality...welcome to commuting for less money than your worth.

Drugs here are a MASSIVE problem. Can't even believe no one addresses this in any reviews.

The majority of rentals are income based housing. Research! Beaufort is almost 50 percent renters!

The schools are good. Not much for the arts or technology. They seem to pour EVERYTHING into sports.

Nice neighborhoods off of front street but lots of air bnbs and summer homes.
Most of the wealthy don't live here
Year round. Lots of short term renters.

Same few family's own and run everything. Corrupt. Research!

Surrounded by military towns on 2 sides. Do your Research!

Not diverse or welcoming to outsiders. Considering they live off tourism, this confuses me.

All in all its an ok place to vacation but not functional for a good quality of life. I did not want my kids to go to high school here.

We fled! You've been warned. Read Less
