Great for kids, but not a lot to do

Living in Alvin is good and bad. We have a lot of restaurants scattered around, but just a handful of grocery stores so if you cook at home, you might have to make a drive. There is a lot of shopping if you enjoy that. We also have some coffee shops all around Alvin, but we don't ...Read More
have public transportation, so you will need a car. We maybe have two libraries, but that's about it. We do have a wide selection of schools and a lot of them are excellent. It's not too expensive to live here, the cost of living is pretty reasonable. Crime is low, but I wouldn't just leave my car unlocked or anything like that. I can leave my kids at home alone without any worry, but I still make sure the doors are locked when I leave. The weather is pretty standard for Texas, but still nice and sunny. It can get up to the low hundreds in the summer, but the winters only get down to low thirties usually.
