There are no jobs. The schooling sucks. If you wanna move go to Bryon. They have amazing schools and are right next to great jobs. Albert Lea is the worst. Our high school has one star on SchoolDigger. Our people aren't very nice. The only nice people are the elders, but they can ...Read More
't help our town. Our school looks fancy, but they thought that they should charge the tax payers not one, but TWICE to make a fancy school to try to get people to move. It didn't work the first time and it's not gonna work the second. Just because the school looks nice doesn't mean that it has good education. Just because the football field looks nice doesn't mean the school has good sports. We haven't been to state since 2008. We have good wrestling. The only team that wins awards every time is the speech team. We need to get better education.

ultural uniqueness, leaving much to be desired. The public school system is average at best, with an increasing number of students making the student to teacher ratio higher every year while the public school buildings slowly deteriorate due to lack of funding.
The housing market in Albert Lea is inexpensive with reasonable property taxes, though many homeowners are beginning to rent their houses to lower income families, which is unfortunately a recipe for the decline of any community. Though crime has only recently become a problem, the police force in Albert Lea are doing the best they can to tackle this problem and to keep the public informed of what's going on and how they can stay safe from these petty criminals.
Overall, Albert Lea is not quite what it used to be in terms of thriving small town. It is still an okay place to live, but if you're looking to raise a family, you're better off spending a few extra dollars and heading closer to the twin cities.
