People love to complain, my goodness! Woodland is the county seat in Yolo County. I've lived here on and off since the late 1970's. Sacramento is 18 miles from here and you've got SF, the Gold Country, the coast, Tahoe all less than 2 hours away. Or, stay in town! There are areas ...Read More
to avoid but mostly it is full of life, activities, farmers markets, community festivals, parades, restaurants, small shops, gorgeous downtown and historical homes. It is not cheap to live here, but cheaper than many places in CA. I appreciate this place and mostly access to the fresh foods and local wineries!

Born and raised in Woodland from 1959 to 2010. Moved to another area of California in 2010. As a kid, and teenager growing up you could walk from one end of town to the other anytime of day or night and feel safe. Friendly people, beautiful trees, housing, country feel, just was ...Read More
a great place to grow up. Now Woodland has become a town of Meth freaks, Drug users, gangs, filthy parking lots, Homeless people everywhere, Sanctuary town, corrupt city council, theft, crime everywhere, Northside and now southside. I am disgusted in what Woodland has become, along with the whole state of California. That's why I'm moving the hell out. As a grandfather, husband and person with morales, do not move here or California.

known worldwide for its collection of well maintained Victorian homes. In September every year they have a "Walk Through History", where homeowners open their private residences to the public. Of course tickets for this event can be purchased at the beautiful Heritage Square in the center of town.
The quaint downtown area is full of small shops and a variety of eateries. Many of the locally run restaurants have outside seating with a terrific view of the square. Where you can sit and enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine.
Woodland also offers a train ride to the Sacramento River. You can enjoy a breakfast, lunch or dinner while seeing the wonderful landscape and river. On Saturday mornings the guests on the train are treated to a "Great Train Robbery". Adults and children alike enjoy this spectacle.
On Tuesdays and Saturdays, you can take advantage of some of the selection of fresh vegetables that are grown locally in the Yolo County. You will be able to see many of the farms where they are grown on the train ride.
You can spend a very busy or a relaxing weekend at one of the local hotels, resorts and spas or a bed and breakfast in a Victorian home. You can also bring a group of friends and enter the annual "Dynamite Chili Cook-off" held at the Yolo County Fairgrounds. The Yolo County Fair is one of the last free to the public fairs in the state of California.
If strenuous activities are what you are looking for you can participate in the annual Scottish Games Classic with all the games and foods the Scottish people are known to love.
If you are ready for a weekend away or you are permanently moving to the area, make the city of Woodland a must be seen to be believed.
